Just accepted a teaching job in China?

In order to get a work permit in China as an English Teacher, you will need to authenticate the following documents.

  • University Degree
  • Criminal Records Check(Can be local, state, or FBI. If you are going to use your local city/county level Criminal Records Check, please send a scan copy to your Prospective Employer first, to make sure it meets the requirements. Some local police checks do not meet the requirements for the work permit.)

Steps involved for authenticating your documents

  1. Notarize your document and authenticate at State Level
  2. Submit to the Department of State for federal level authentication
  3. Submit to the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC for the Chinese Embassy level authentication(4 days)

Once we pick up your authenticated documents from the Chinese Embassy, Monument Visa will scan the authenticated documents and send you by e-mail.

Then, we will ship the hard copies back to you via shipping instructions. If you are in China, or anywhere else outside USA, we can FedEx your hard copies for an extra charge.

How to submit an order

  1. STEP 1. Make sure your original document is notarized by a local notary.  The notary must sign the document and include a jurat statement.  The day month and year must also be printed.  this does not apply to FBI background checks.  If you received an official pdf from the FBI, you can upload that pdf to our order form and we can complete all the steps for you.  Please see notes below for updated Diploma RequirementsSTEP 2.  The document must then be authenticated by the Secretary of the State where it is executed. Some states require that the document be certified by the County Clerk first.   Once this is complete you can mail the originals to us, and we can complete the process for you.DIPLOMAS:  Photocopies of diplomas are no longer accepted by the Washington D.C. Consulate.   All diplomas must be original.  You will need to have the original diploma notarized by the University Registrar’s office and then Authenticated by the Secretary of States office before mailing to our office.   The University must be located within one of the States below.  If you have any questions, please contact us at support@monumentvisa.com

    THE CHINESE CONSULATE IN WASHINGTON DC WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT PHOTOCOPIES OF, TEFL’S AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECKS.   THEY NOW REQUIRE THE ORGINAL DOCUMENT TO BE SUBMITTED.   THEY ALSO REQUIRE THE DOUCMENT TO BE NOTARIZED AND AUTHENTICATED BY THE STATE THAT ISSUED THEM.  WE CAN STILL COMPLETE THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE AND EMBASSY STEPS FOR YOU BUT YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE YOUR ORGINAL DOCUMENTS NOTARIZED AND AUTHENTICATED BY THE ISSUING STATE BEFORE MAILING THE ORGINALS TO US.   IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT US AT SUPPORT@MONUMENTVISA.COM

    THE CHINESE CONNSULATE IN DC WILL ONLY ACCEPT DOCUMENTS THAT WERE ISSUED FROM THE FOLLOWING STATES:  ALABAMA, ARKANSAS, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, LOUISIANA, MISSISSIPPI, OKLAHOMA, TEXAS, WASHINGTON DC, DELAWARE, IDAHO, KENTUCKY, MARYLAND, MONTANA, NEBRASKA, NORTH CAROLINA, NORTH DAKOTA, SOUTH CAROLINA, SOUTH DAKOTA, TENNESSEE, UTAH, VIRGINIA, WEST VIRGINIA, WYOMING. 

  2. Scan a high quality color of your passport. We need both the photo page of your passport as well as the signature page. Must be clear scans. If the scan isn’t legible, the Chinese Embassy will reject the authentication application.

  4.
